MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Bethel produced six unanswered runs late in Game 1 of today's Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader here at Wynn Field to secure the 7-4 victory before Faulkner's Jacqui Wynn drove in a pair of runs with a walk-off single to clip the visitors 2-1 in the nightcap.

Avery Mott gave Faulkner an early lead in the opener with a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the second inning.

Sophie Slemp's sacrifice fly and Amanda Seales' sprint home on a wild Bethel throw extended Faulkner's lead to 4-1 after three innings of play.

The Wildcats managed to put a stopper in Faulkner's offense efforts from the reminder of the outing however, and strung six runs across the fifth and sixth innings to secure the win.

The visitors scored in the top of the first in Game 2 as well and a solid defensive performance kept the home team on its heals through the bulk of the contest.

Faulkner finally disrupted Ericca McCormic's no-hit bid after 6 and 2/3 innings with three consecutive hits with the game on the line.

Hannah Qualls got things started with a hard shot to center field, ushering new life into the Faulkner dugout. Mott followed with a brilliant double up the first base line before Wynn punctuated the effort driving in both runners with a single to left field.

Mattie Dotson (4-1) suffered her first loss of the season allowing nine hits and six earned runs while securing three strikeouts in just over five innings of work in Game 1.

Hayden Strickland took over in the circle for the final five outs and gave up two hits.

Chelsey Dunnaway (3-4) picked up the win in the second event. The senior allowed six hits and an earned run while striking out two at the plate.

Mott accounted for three of Faulkner's eight hits on the afternoon and added a pair of RBIs and a run.

Faulkner moved to 9-8 overall and 1-1 in the league. The Lady Eagles host SSAC newcomer Blue Mountain in doubleheader action on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
