MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Brenau rallied out of a two-run deficit in the seventh inning to secure the 8-4 victory in eight innings in Game 1 of this afternoon's Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader here at Wynn Field. Faulkner returned the favor in the nightcap, however, upsetting the Golden Tigers 4-0.

Breanu (24-8, 9-7 SSAC) ignited a 2-0 lead in the first inning of Game 1 when Katherine Cole hit a two-RBI single to right center field.

Faulkner trimmed the lead to a single run in the third with a bases-loaded walk and later catapulted into the lead with a three-run fifth inning.

Tia Rogers scored the tying run from second base on a wild throw to first. 

Sophie Slemp knocked in the go-ahead run with an RBI double off the wall at left center and scored just two pitches later when Abbie Pierce delivered a single to shallow left field.

Pinch hitter Taylor Causey sparked new life in to the visiting dugout, however, when she tied the game with a two-RBI single with two outs on the board in top of the seventh.

The Golden Tigers continued to execute at the plate in the eighth and ultimately generated four more runs on four hits and a Lady Eagle error.

Brenau closed the game with nine hits despite having only three heading into the seventh inning.

Chelsey Dunnaway pitched six innings in the opener and gave up four hits and a pair of earned runs, while walking five batters and striking out four.

Hayden Strickland (0-1) suffered the loss. The freshman allowed five hits and four earned runs in two innings of work.

The Lady Eagles rebound nicely from the disappointing Game 1 loss with a convincing victory in the second event.

Faulkner's offense produced eight hits while it's defense, anchored by junior pitcher Mattie Dotson, kept the Golden Tigers of the board.

The home team produced four runs over as many innings beginning with a Morgan Martin RBI single in the first. Pierce did the same in the second.

Keri Hyde extended Faulkner's lead to 3-0 when she scored on a wild throw in the fourth inning and Katie Goodson's RBI single in the fifth brought the team's scoring efforts to a close.

Dotson (8-4) allowed just two hits while striking out five and walking none in the shutout.

Hyde was an impressive 7-for-8 on the day and scored three runs. Pierce went 4-for-7 in the series and tallied a pair of RBIs.

Goodson was 2-for-3 and knocked in a run and scored in Game 2.

Faulkner move to 13-16 overall and 5-9 in the league. The Lady Eagles will host No. 2 Auburn Montgomery on Saturday. The doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
