McKENZIE, Tenn. - Faulkner took an early lead in tonight's Southern States Athletic Conference quarterfinal match, but was ultimately unable to overcome a 4-0 surge sparked by Bethel's Samuel Goni and Kebba Denmba in the heart of the contest. The Wildcats went on to claim the 4-3 victory over the Eagles.

Emiliano Solar put Faulkner on the board in the 13th minute of the event when he made good on a Leonardo Saurit assist effort.

Faulkner crept into a 2-0 lead just 11 minutes later when Costandinos Whitehead punched a shot into the netting courtesy of a Solar feed.

Bethel finally responded in the 39th minute when Goni went to the target unassisted and scored again just four minutes later on a David Orr pass moving the event into a tie at the break.

Demba then gave the Wildcats the first lead of the night 21 minutes into the second period and was at it again 11 minutes later, capping Bethel's scoring spree.

Mehdi Himmich landed a solo shot with just five minutes remaining in the contest, but the Eagles were unable to pull out another last-second victory over Bethel.

Diego da Silva (9-7-1) tallied four saves and allowed four goals in the loss.

Faulkner closed the season at 9-7-1 to secure the program's first ever winning season.
