No. 2 Faulkner blasts Point 10-3 for 10th straight victory

Box Score
WEST POINT, Ga. - Faulkner scored multiple runs in each of the first three innings and blasted Point 10-3 here Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game at West Point Park.

The second-ranked Eagles (28-3), who now have won 10 in a row, scored three times in the first inning and twice in both the second and third to coast to the victory.

Cody Sos singled in two runs and Nick Cain another in the top of the first to get the Eagles started. Faulkner added to the lead in the second, scoring runs on an infield out and a passed ball. Cain and Edgar Figueroa both had RBI hits in the third to push the lead to 7-0, and the Eagles were never seriously threatened from there.

Sos' two-run double highlighted a three-run sixth inning for Faulkner, countering single runs by the Skyhawks in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings. Chris Madera and Sos each had three hits for the Eagles, with Sos driving in four runs as well. Cain had two hits and two RBIs, while Figueroa also added two hits. Madera, Greg Howard and Dennis Morton all scored two runs for Faulkner.

Christian Torres (3-1) worked five innings for the victory, allowing just one run on three hits. Luis Florentino (1-4) took the loss for Point, which fell to 10-17 on the season.

Faulkner hosts William Carey in a three-game Southern States Athletic Conference series this weekend at Harrison Field. Friday night's game begins at 6, with Saturday's doubleheader set for a 1 p.m. start.
