MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner extended its wins streak to five games this afternoon when it rocked Bryan College (Tenn.) 8-0 in six innings and 11-1 in five innings here at Wynn Field.

The Lady Eagles (12-6) capitalized on a pair of Lady Lion (13-11) errors in the bottom of the first inning in Game 1 to both setup and score runs. Faulkner struck first on a fielder's choice after moving runners into scoring position on a dropped fly ball in the outfield. The home team then added another on a misplayed grounder in the infield.

The Lady Eagle bats began causing serious damage in the fifth inning after Sophie Slemp and Holli Brooks delivered back-to-back doubles. Bailey Goodman knocked in Brooks just moments later moving Faulkner into a 4-0 lead.

The birds capped the opener with a four-run sixth to claim the run-rule victory before any outs could be tallied. Slemp sparked the surge with an RBI single before Brooks offered up another double this time with a run attached. Goodman followed with an RBI single leaving the bases loaded for Emily Byrd who delivered the final blow with a single through second base.

Faulkner's 24-hit afternoon continued into the second contest where every offensive player logged a hit en route to the second abbreviated 11-1 decision of the year.

The Lady Eagles' five-run first inning effort in the nightcap set the stage for things to come. Faulkner loaded the bags quickly and Brooks put the scoring in motion when she dropped a beautiful RBI single to shallow right field. 

Hannah Qualls did more of the same with a shot through the hole at short and Bryan added to the drama when it walked in a third run. 

Byrd slammed a hard shot down the third base line scoring a run and anther followed on the disrupted through back into the infield.

Faulkner refused to take its foot off the accelerator and punched in three more runs in the second inning. Slemp connected with an RBI single and later scored on a wild throw in an effort to catch Qualls stealing second base. 

Katie Goodson made it 8-0 with a hard double to left-center.

The Lady Lions finally mustered a run behind a pair of quality hits in the top of the third inning, but the solo score did little to shake Faulkner. Jessica Butterworth's RBI double extended the lead to 9-1 that same inning. 

Brooks then scored on a missed catch and Adrienne Stephens wrapped up the spree on a Byrd sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Brooks was stellar in the series going 5-for-7 with three doubles, four RBIs and four runs. Slemp was no slouch either going 3-for-6 with three RBIs and runs.

Makenzie Anthony went 2-for-3 and scored twice and Goodman was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in the first win.

Butterworth was 2-for-3 in the final contest and brooked and RBI and run and Goodson and Byrd each had two RBIs.

Caitlin Perry (5-3) and Emma Cornell (5-0) delivered almost mirror performances from the circle in the sweep this afternoon.

Perry earned her third shutout of the season in the opening victory while scattering just three hits over six innings and tallying three strikeouts. Cornell remains undefeated on the year and also allowed just three hits and logged as many strikeouts in just five innings of work. The solo run was earned.

Faulkner will next take on Southern States Athletic Conference and national titan in No. 1 Auburn Montgomery. The Lady Eagles sit at 3-1 in the league and will look to take down a giant Thursday afternoon at the AUM Softball Complex. The doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m., weather permitting.
