WEST POINT, Ga. - Point erupted for eight runs and eight hits off of Faulkner starter Victor Arche and then held off the third-ranked Eagles for a 9-7 victory here Wednesday night.

The Skyhawks (15-18) scored twice in the first, four more times in the second and closed out their outburst with three in the third to take a 9-3 lead. Faulkner, after scoring three in its half of the third, clawed back with two in the fourth and one in the fifth, but could add only a single run in the final four innings.

Faulkner, which fell to 29-7, got home runs from David Palenzuela, Mario Amaral, Chase Morris and Deivy Palmeiro, but it wasn't enough to avoid the upset. Palmeiro, Dario Polanco and Alex Cruz each had a pair of hits for the Eagles.

Arche fell to 6-2 on the season. Will Ziebol got the win for Point.

Faulkner travels to Hattisburg, Miss., this weekend to face William Carey in a three-game Southern States Athletic Conference series. Friday's Game 1 starts at 6 p.m.
