Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - No. 4 Faulkner pounded out 26 hits and scored 31 runs in blasting Brewton-Parker in a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader here Saturday, pushing its winning streak to eight games in the process.
The Eagles won the opener 19-4 and the nightcap 12-2, improving to 38-10 overall and 18-3 in the SSAC. During Faulkner's win streak it has outscored its opponents by a whopping 95-11 count, and now tops the league standings by two full games.
Christian Torres (8-1) allowed only one hit in five innings to grab the victory in Game 1, while Phillip Anderson (5-3) surrendered four hits and two runs in six innings to earn the win in the second game.
A five-run third inning and a nine-run sixth highlighted the first-game performance. The Eagle bats were back at it again in the finale, pulling away with a four-run fourth inning and six-run fifth. Dennis Morton and Nick Cain each hit two home runs on the day, with T.J. Condon and David Palenzuela also going deep for Faulkner.
Condon had four hits and five RBIs in the opener, while Morton and Cain each added a pair of hits and three RBIs. Palenzuela had two hits and two RBIs. In Game 2, Condon had three more hits, with Palenzuela, Morton, Cain, Dario Polanco and Mario Amaral collecting two apiece. Amaral's four RBIs were tops in the nightcap, followed by Cain's three.
Faulkner travels to Athens, Tenn., Tuesday afternoon to face sixth-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. central time.
