HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After a pair of disappointing losses to Blue Mountain on Friday, Faulkner was looking to spark against eighth-ranked William Carey in another Southern States Athletic Conference series Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles have toppled a pair of Top 10 opponents so far this season, but Faulkner was unable to add to this list Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders went on to capture back-to-back 2-0 victories.

William Carey (22-9/7-1 SSAC) scored in the first and fourth innings of Game 1 and the first and sixth innings of the nightcap to lock in a pair of shutouts and the league sweep.

Faulkner struggled offensively, producing just four hits on the day.

Emma Cornell (5-2) scattered five hits over six innings and gave up a single earned run in the opening loss.

Hayden Strickland (2-6) allowed 13 hits and a pair of earned runs in the second bout.

Faulkner dropped to 15-13 overall and 3-5 in the league. The Lady Eagles next travel to cross-town and conference rival AUM, which currently occupies the No. 1 spot in the national poll. The doubleheader is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday.
