Faulkner's struggles continue in 6-5 loss at Reinhardt

Box Score
WALESKA, Ga. - No. 4 Faulkner coughed up a late lead then had the potential tying run gunned down at the plate for the game's final out in a 6-5 loss to Reinhardt here Tuesday evening.

Two unearned runs and two RBIs by Dennis Morton, including a solo homer, helped the Eagles (30-10) take a 5-2 lead. Still on top 5-3 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Faulkner bullpen allowed three Reinhardt runs, the final coming on a wild pitch that gave the hosts a one-run lead.

With two outs and a runner on first in the top of the ninth, the Eagles' Dario Polanco doubled to right field but a productive relay from the outfield cut down runner at home to end it.

Reinhardt outhit Faulkner 12-9. Three Eagles - Morton, Darrius Jennings and Alexis Cruz - had three hits apiece. River Brannon earned the win for Reinhardt (25-14), while Kurt Lipscomb took the loss for the Eagles. The loss was Faulkner's fourth in its last five games.

Faulkner hosts Talladega Wednesday afternoon at 2, culminating "Lamar Harrison Day" at Harrison Field.
