GULF SHORES, Ala. -  Missouri Baptist (4-6) clipped Faulkner (6-9) 2-1 here in the opening contest of bronze bracket action before the Lady Eagles gained their second victory of the tournament over No. 8 Lindsey Wilson (11-6) 1-0 in eight innings here on the final day of the Gulf Coast Invitational.

Missouri Baptist knocked in a run in the first inning but Hannahlee Harris drove in the tying run with a triple in the second.

The Spartans would strike last, however, on an RBI single in the fifth.

Julianne Wilkes went 2-for-2 and scored the run and Harris was 2-for-3 with the RBI.

Hayden Strickland Oates (0-4) scattered five hits over seven innings and allowed one earned run in the loss.

Faulkner was then scheduled to have a rematch against Concordia (Mich.) in the bronze bracket finale, but a travel predicament switched up the schedule and the Lady Eagles inherited No. 8 Lindsey Wilson for the second time in the tournament and third time this season.

Starting pitcher Caitlin Perry (4-1), who got the 8-1 win over the Blue Raiders two days ago in the Invitational, began things in similar fashion. The sophomore fanned four of the first eight batters she faced and closed the game with seven strikeouts while allowing just three hits in the shutout.

The Lady Eagles produced seven hits courtesy of six different batters and were spearheaded by Shelby Brown who was 2-for-4.

No hit was bigger than Abbigail Barron's game-winning swing in the top of the eighth inning, however. The freshman drove in Dakota Berry, who started the inning at second base under the international tie-breaker rule, with a single to shallow left field.

Lindsey Wilson managed to move its free runner to third on a sacrifice bunt, but no further.

Faulkner is 2-1 against the Blue Raiders this season and 3-1 lifetime. All three one those wins have come at the Invitational. 

The Lady Eagles resume play at Wynn Field on Wednesday when they host Stillman College in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Faulkner swept the previous series this season.
