No. 10 Tennessee Wesleyan slips by top-ranked Faulkner 2-1

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Tenth-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan's (14-8) Aaron Ford gave up just four hits and allowed only one run while tallying nine strikeouts in a complete game effort from the mound to anchor the Bulldogs' 2-1 win over Faulkner (20-3) here at Harrison Field this afternoon.

 

The visitors did all their scoring in the sixth inning on back-to-back homers courtesy of Collin Ridout and Dan Ward.

 

Faulkner finally answered with a Chance Willard RBI single in the eighth, but the scoring halted there.

 

The loss marked the Eagles' third one-run loss of the season.

 

Starting pitcher Braden Olive gave up just two hits and booked a strikeout over four innings for Faulkner.

 

Kolby Green (1-2) suffered the loss giving up both earned runs on three hits while striking out three batters in the ensuing two innings of work.

 

Tyler Tungate also had three strikeouts and allowed a single hit over the seventh and eighth innings before Jonathan Wilkins closed things out from the middle of the diamond.

 

The Eagles will next host Brewton-Parker in Southern States Athletic Conference action this weekend. The two teams will kick off the three-game series Friday night at 6.
