No. 2 Faulkner pummels Talladega in mid-week matchup

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Second-ranked Faulkner (39-8) scored in all but the second and sixth innings en route to a 10-1 decision over Talladega (27-19) here at Harrison Field this evening.

Staying true to form, Faulkner worked a handful of home runs into the mix early on to spark the scoring.

Reid Long delivered a three-run blast to right field in the first inning before single-handedly moving the Eagles into a 4-0 lead with a solo shot to left center in the third.

A Ryan Rosa RBI knock later in the third inning and a sacrifice fly courtesy of T.J. Condon in the fourth bridged the home run gap until Austin Paschke could hammer his solo shot off the scoreboard in the fifth.

Michael Darr ripped a triple down the first base line in the fifth as well and later scored on a Tra'mayne Holmes sac fly.

Deviy Palmeiro and Condon capped Faulkner's scoring efforts with a pair of RBI singles in the seventh and eighth frames, respectively.

Tylier Campbell (3-0) allowed just two hits while tallying a pair of strikeouts over six shutout innings in the win.

Dustin Hagy surrendered the lone earned run on three hits he gave up in the seventh frame.

Holmes closed the contest and allowed a single hit while striking out three batters.

Long and Paschke were were both 2-for-3 in the outing. Long had four RBIs and scored twice on his homers while Paschke booked one of each on his.

Faulkner will next host Southern States Athletic Conference foe and 23rd-ranked William Carey in the final home series of the regular season this weekend. The two teams will face off in a single nine-inning game Friday evening at 6 followed by a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will honor their seniors in a special ceremony following the final game.
