MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner's first-inning run was all it took to slip past Point 1-0 in the opening bout of this afternoon's doubleheader here at Wynn Field but it took a Kendall Bennett two-run homer and eighth-inning walk-off single to secure the sweep with a thrilling 3-2 victory in the nightcap.

A leadoff double from Hannahlee Harris and ensuing RBI double from Abbigail Barron gave Faulkner (22-27) the lead and ultimately the win in Game 1 this afternoon.

Emma Cornell (5-7) was brilliant in the circle for the Lady Eagles fanning nine batters and allowing just four hits in the complete game shutout.

A wild two-RBI infield single gave the Skyhawks (30-20) an early advantage in Game 2 and it wasn't until the bottom of the sixth inning that the home team came up with an answer.

Bennett's game-tying two-run jack to the left field bullpen ushered new life into the home dugout and catapulted the event into extended play.

Barron ripped her second double of the afternoon in the eighth frame paving the way for Bennett's walk-off single.

Tori Davis moved to 5-6 in the circle after allowing just one earned run on six hits she scattered over eight innings while tallying six strikeouts.Â

Bennett was 2-for-3 in the second contest and Taylor Nelson was 3-for-4 in the series.

Faulkner resumes conference play Friday afternoon when it hosts Middle Georgia State in doubleheader action beginning at 2 p.m.
