MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner (24-27, 11-13 SSAC) secured it's second consecutive sweep so far this week this afternoon when it blew by Middle Georgia State (17-33, 7-17 SSAC) 4-0 and 8-1, respectively, here in Southern States Athletic Conference action at Wynn Field.

The Lady Eagles never trailed and first ignited the scoreboard in the second inning of the opener when Julianne Wilkes delivered an RBI single to shallow right field.Â

Bailee Trotter followed with a two-foot single in a two-out, bases-loaded arrangement just moments later.

Faulkner logged two more runs in the following frame on a Kendall Bennett RBI effort and a Katie Goodson single.

Hayden Strickland Oates (4-8) allowed seven hits and struck out two batters over five shutout innings in the win.

Emma Cornell closed the contest allowing just a single hit while fanning three of the seven hitters she faced.

Home runs were the name of the game for the Lady Eagles in the second event.

Bennett rocketed a three-run blast to left field in the first inning before Alicia Richardson ripped a solo blast to the same spot in the following frame giving the home team a 4-1 advantage.

Faulkner again loaded the bases with a pair of outs in tow in its final at-bat and went on to tally the most explosive inning of the series soon after.

Taylor Nelson's speed was key to keeping the inning alive as she ushered in a run while beating a throw to first base following a slap that trickled to third.

Hannahlee Harris capped the scoring with a three-RBI triple to center field.

Caitlin Perry (10-6) surrendered a lone earned run on eight hits while seating 12 batters in the complete Game 2 win.

Bennett was an impressive 4-for-6 on the day with three RBIs and two runs while Nelson hit .500 and drove in a run and scored.

Harris was 2-for-4 in the nightcap and booked three RBIs on her final swing of the game.

Wilkes knocked in two runs on one hit and scored while Abbigail Barron produced a hit and crossed home plate three times.

Faulkner will conclude the regular season at home with an SSAC showdown against Coastal Georgia tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. The team's three seniors will be recognized in a special ceremony prior to the opening pitch.
