Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala. - T.J. Condon's sixth-inning two-run homer wasn't quite enough to dig No. 2 Faulkner (40-10, 15-6 SSAC) out of a three-run deficit against No. 23 William Carey (31-15, 17-7 SSAC) here in Game 1 of this afternoon's Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader at Harrison Field, but efficiency at the plate provided the much-needed afternoon split here in the home season finale. The Crusaders walked away with the overall series win after clinching the 3-2 (7) decision in the opener while the Eagles took the second bout 6-1.
William Carey scored on an infield error in the first inning of Game 1 before extending its lead behind back-to-back doubles in the third.
The Crusaders booked their final run on an RBI single to right field in the fourth inning.
Condon put the home team within a score following his two-run blast in the sixth, but the offensive surge ended there.
Ivan Pelaez (7-3) suffered the loss after allowing two earned runs on just five hits while tallying four strikeouts in the complete seven-inning effort.
The Eagles claimed their first lead of the weekend on a balk in their first at-bat in the second contest and advanced their lead a run on the end of a Reid Long single in the third inning.
The Crusaders trimmed a bit of the fat with a solo homer in the top of the fourth, but Faulkner answered immediately with a homer of its own courtesy of Ryan Rosa.
Olivier Basabe delivered a sacrifice fly to left field in the fifth before the Eagles capped their scoring on a L.D. Coney RBI double and Chance Willard RBI single in the eighth.
Tyler Tungate (8-0) remained unbeaten on the season with his brilliant Game 2 showing. The junior fanned 10 batters and surrendered just a single earned run on three hits he scattered over nine full innings.
Basabe hit .500 on the afternoon and had an RBI in the nightcap while Condon had a hit in each game, knocked in two runs and scored.
Rosa was 2-for-2 in the second game, drove in a run and scored twice while Coney was 1-for-1, logged an RBI and scored half of the team's runs.

Faulkner celebrated it's eight seniors following today's doubleheader
Faulkner will close out the regular season with a three-game series against Mobile next week. The Eagles and Rams will battle in an SSAC doubleheader on Thursday at 3 p.m. before closing out play with a single nine-inning game at 1 p.m. on Friday.
