MONTGOMERY, Ala. – It only took seven innings for Faulkner's baseball team (10-0) to defeat Northwestern Ohio 14-4 in game one of a four-game series at Harrison Field on Saturday afternoon, but game two was much closer, with the Eagles edging out an 8-6 win, highlighted by Reid Long's two homeruns in the fifth and seventh innings.

UNOH got on the board early in game one with a two-run homerun in the top of the very first inning, but Faulkner was able to answer with two runs of their own on a Gage West single and a Jacob Freeland sacrifice fly.

UNOH got their final two runs of the game in the top of the third on another two run shot, but following that half inning, it was all Faulkner the rest of the game.

Austin Paschke went 3-for-4 with a triple and a three-run homerun and brought in four runs.

Alex DuBord got the start on the mound and was awarded the win after six and one-third innings pitched with eight strikeouts.

Game two was a much closer affair, as the Eagles had to hold off a comeback attempt by UNOH to get the win.

The game was highlighted by not one, but two home runs in back-to-back at bats by Reid Long. The first was a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth inning which extended Faulkner's lead to four. The second was a three-run bomb in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Freeland also homered in the game with a lead-off solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at one.

Alex Carillo got the start and was awarded the win after five innings pitched and three strikeouts.

Jake Koltermann came in the game with one out in the sixth inning and earned the save after finishing the game and striking out seven batters.

The Eagles will complete the four-game series against UNOH tomorrow in double-header action with game one set to begin at 1 p.m.
