MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The weather held up on Friday afternoon at Harrison Field, allowing the No. 2 Eagles (5-0) to defeat the Cumberland Phoenix 9-1, completing the three-game sweep.
Faulkner scored in each of the first four innings, but most were unearned due to errors, passed balls and wild pitches.
Faulkner would be blanked in the bottom of the fifth inning, but score their final two runs of the game in the sixth off of an Austin Paschke single and a T.J. Riles sacrifice fly out to right field, bringing in L.D. Coney and Chance Willard, respectively.
Andrew Carter (1-0) got the start on the mound and was awarded the win after pitching five innings recording four strikeouts.
Paschke went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.
Weather permitting, the Eagles will face off against Louisiana State University-Alexandria in a double-header on Monday beginning at 4 p.m.
