MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner (22-3, 7-1 SSAC) suffered its first defeat in 14 contests with a 2-0 decision in the front half of this afternoon's doubleheader to Southern States Athletic Conference foe Bethel (Tenn.) (7-13, 1-1 SSAC), but avenged the disappointment by the same score here in the nightcap at Wynn Field.
The opening bout saw the visitors take the lead in the sixth inning when Iesha Kizer drove in the decisive run with a two-out double.
Casey Wade followed with a double of her own scoring Kizer.
The Lady Eagles stranded seven base runners in the outing.
Emma Cornell (10-1) struck out eight Wildcats while allowing three hits in her first loss of the season.
Hannahlee Harris opened the scoring in the first frame of the second contest when Madison Hunt misfired a throw to first with two outs, allowing the senior to score from second.
Caity Jo Lee added the second digit to the total with a solo home run to left-center field in the fifth.
Caitlin Perry (11-1) escaped bases-loaded jams in the fifth and seventh innings unscathed and retired seven batters while allowing six hits in the shutout.
The Lady Eagles will host the Point University Skyhawks in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday. The first pitch is slated for 2 pm.
