MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Second-ranked Faulkner (18-0, 1-0 SSAC) continued its front-loaded scoring habit this evening with an 8-3 victory over Brewton-Parker (6-14, 0-1 SSAC) in the Southern States Athletic Conference season opener here at Harrison Field.

The Eagles scored their first two runs of the night on an infield error in the the first inning before Rusber Estrada drove in a third with an RBI double.

The Barons tied the contest in the top of the second, but Faulkner returned to the grind in its ensuing at-bat, catapulting itself into a four-run advantage anchored by doubles courtesy of Ryan Rosa, Te'kwaan Whyte and Reece Cooley.

T.J. Riles ushered in the final run of the outing on a single in the sixth frame.

Alex DuBord (4-0) surrendered three earned runs on five hits while striking out seven batters over six innings to secure the win.

Isaac Guerrero booked his first save of the season with a two-hit, two-strikeout effort over the final three innings.

Whyte was 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI while Estrada went 2-for-3 and knocked in a run.

Riles was 2-for-4, scored twice and had an RBI.

Gage West drove in two runs on one hit.

Faulkner and Brewton-Parker resume the series tomorrow afternoon in doubleheader action slated to begin at 1.
