MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner (28-7) knocked out Stillman College (12-16) 9-1 in five innings in Game 1 of this afternoon's non-conference doubleheader at Wynn Field before securing the sweep with a 12-4 victory in six innings in the nightcap.
The Lady Eagles scored all the runs necessary to book the opening win in just three at-bats.
Abbigail Barron got things started with an RBI single in the first inning while a five-run second inning was anchored by doubles courtesy of Shelby Brown and Barron and a single form Hannahlee Harris.
Bailie Trotter ushered in run number seven with a single in the third while Brown's second double of the game reeled in the final two scores just moments later.
Emma Cornell (12-3) allowed a single earned run on just three hits she scattered over four innings in the opening win.
Caitlin Perry tossed the final inning and secured a pair of strikeouts while giving up a lone hit.
Maggie Tipton put Faulkner in front with an RBI double in the second inning of Game 2 before Brown delivered a two-run homer giving Faulkner a 3-0 lead in the subsequent frame.
The home team's four-run fourth was sparked by Harris' twin RBI double to center field. Harris later scored on an error while Barron drove in an additional run on a sacrifice fly.
Brown was at it again with an RBI single in the fifth and pinch hitter Taylor Ammons followed with a run-scoring single of her own.
Taylor Nelson capped the scoring spree with a walk-off inside the park homer in the sixth inning that resulted in three runs.
Tori Davis (3-1) surrendered six hits and gave up no earned runs while striking out three batters over five innings in the second win.
Perry again took over in the circle for the final three outs and gave up a hit.
Brown was a monster at the plate for Faulkner going 4-for-7 with six RBIs and two runs in the series.
Trotter was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs and an RBI in the opener while Barron went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs.
Nelson, Harris and Bennett were all 3-for-4 in the second game. Nelson tallied three RBIs and runs while Harris had two of each and Bennett scored.
Faulkner next travels to Marion to take on Judson College on Wednesday. First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m.
