Faulkner's hot streak continues with sweep of No. 14 Reinhardt

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Hannahlee Harris's walk-off single secured Faulkner's (15-2) 2-1 victory over No. 14 Reinhardt (8-9) in Game 1 of this afternoon's doubleheader before an explosive offensive performance elevated the team to a sweep with a 5-1 decision in the nightcap here at Wynn Field.

The visitors claimed a 1-0 advantage on methodical hitting and base-running in the first inning and the team sat in control of the board until the Lady Eagles were able to respond in the fifth.

Nicole Morrison cracked a leadoff single to right-center field and Harris brought her home on a single to left following a pair of well-executed sacrifice bunt efforts.

The scoring duo then ruptured the stalemate in the final at-bat of the contest when Morrison dropped a leadoff single into shallow center setting the stage for Harris' walk-off swing.

Caitlin Perry (7-1) scattered seven hits over as many innings while surrendering an earned run and striking out four batters in the win.

Harris wasted little time in making an impact at the plate in the second bout. The senior sparked scoring with a brilliant two-RBI triple to right-center field in the second inning before scoring herself moments later on a Tara Ammons double to the same spot.

Kendall Bennett followed with an RBI triple in the following at-bat and scored on an Alicia Richardson sacrifice fly.

Emma Cornell (7-0) was again impressive from the circle logging seven strikeouts while giving up just three hits and an earned run in the second affair.

Harris was 4-for-9 with four RBIs and a run in the series while Shelby Brown hit .500 on the day and scored in the second game.

Morrison was 2-for-3 and scored both runs in the opener and Bennett hit the same in the second outing where she also booked an RBI and scored.

Faulkner opens Southern States Athletic Conference play on Friday when it hosts Brewton-Parker in doubleheader action set for 2 p.m.
