The Bulldogs climbed onto the board with a well-timed RBI in the sixth before ushering in the tying run in the seventh.
TWU quickly then loaded the bases just moments later, but a critical strikeout from reliever Braden Olive cut the momentum before a lead change could occur.
Olive (2-0) would go on to earn the win after allowing a single hit and booking the lone out in the seventh inning.
Faulkner reclaimed the lead with a deep sacrifice fly to left field courtesy of Chance Willard in the subsequent at-bat before a two-RBI single from Gage West sandwiched between RBI knocks from T.J. Riles and Reese Cooley solidified the result in the eighth frame.
Tyler Tungate got the start on the mound and scattered three hits over 5 1/3 innings while surrendering a lone earned run and striking out five batters.
Isaac Guerrero tossed the following 1 1/3 innings and struck out three of the seven batters he faced. He gave up an earned run on a single hit.
Alex Carrillo got the save while striking out four batters and giving up a hit over the final two innings of play.
Cooley was 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Wes Roberson, Te'kwaan Whyte and Jacob Freeland all hit .500 and Roberson scored twice while Whyte tallied a run.
Faulkner resumes Southern States Athletic Conference action Friday evening against Mobile. The nine-inning contest is slated for 6 p.m.
