MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Fourteenth-ranked Mobile (19-6, 4-2 SSAC) struggled with No. 1 Faulkner in this afternoon's 6-1 Game 1 loss, but rebounded with a 5-4 decision in the 10-inning finale to clinch the Southern States Athletic Conference series 2-1.

Faulkner gained a 4-0 advantage in the fourth inning of the opener that was highlighted by Austin Paschke's two-RBI double to left-center field.

A sacrifice fly broke the scoring silence for the Rams the following inning, but the Eagles punctuated the victory with back-to-back homers from Rusber Estrada and L.D. Coney in the sixth.

Tyler Thornton (3-0) scattered six hits over seven innings while surrendering an earned run and striking out four batters in the win.

Mobile responded with a heavy offense in the second contest that hung four runs over the third and fourth innings.

Evan Gillespie gave up three earned runs on six hits over the first 3 1/3 innings in the Game 2 start.

Brandon Suttles, Alex Carrillo and Braden Olive all saw action, but the loss went to Jonathan Wilkins (1-1) who tallied a strikeout in the ninth.

Whyte was 4-for-7 on the day with three RBIs and a run.
