Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Top-ranked and seeded Faulkner (49-6) utilized multiple heavy innings to cripple fourth-seeded William Carey (33-21) 17-2 in seven innings here on Day 2 of the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament at Paterson Field this evening.
The Eagles ignited the scoring spree with a seven-run second inning before hanging four runs each in the fourth and fifth and capping the night with a twin-run sixth.
Top offensive performers included Gage West who was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a pair of runs while Ryan Rosa and Jacob Freeland each hit .500 and scored three runs and a single run, respectively.
Tyler Tungate (8-0) struck out nine batters while allowing just a single earned run on two hits spanning five innings of work in the win.
Caleb DeRouen held the mound for the final two frames and gave up an earned run on three hits while tallying three strikeouts.
