Box Score 2 Pitching woes plagued Faulkner early Sunday, ultimately resulting in a game one loss to Thomas University before the Eagles rebounded to take game two.

Faulkner pitchers combined to allow eight hits and a walk over while allowing seven earned runs over eight innings of work in the opener. Those totals combined with three errors committed by the Faulkner defense proved more than enough for the Nighthawks.
The Eagles scored a pair of runs in the second and another run in the third for take a 3-1 lead. Thomas rallied for three runs in the fourth before Faulkner tied it in the fifth. A three-run Nighthawk sixth proved the difference in the game.
Jacob Freeland (SR/Cape Coral, Fla.) homered and scored twice for Faulkner. Max Guzman (JR/Miami, Fla.), Troy Black (SO/Dayton, Ohio) and Myron Mebane (SR/Tallahassee, Fla.) each singled while Sam Anthony (JR/Columbus, Ga.) and John Michael Matthews (JR/Birmingham, Ala.) recorded two hits apiece. Mebane and Bo Seccombe (JR/Tallahassee, Fla.) each scored a run. Hagen Holmstead (JR/Salt Lake City, Utah), Anthony and Matthews drove in one run each.
Faulkner 8, Thomas 5
The Eagles won game two with a three-run rally of their own in the second game of the day. Faulkner hung three on the board in the fifth to down Thomas 8-5.
Black paced the offense with three hits in three trips including a pair of doubles to go along with three RBIs and a run scored. Te'kwaan Whyte (SR/Stone Mountain, Ga.) notched a hit, two RBIs and a run scored. Freeland scored a run. Holmstead had two hits and a run scored. Mebane had a hit and two runs scored. Matthews had a double and a run scored. Jonathan Villa (JR/Ensenada, Mexico) drove in two runs while DeJhard Kimbrough (JR/Atlanta, Ga.) had a hit.
Zack Glines (JR/Dalton, Ga.) pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings of work while allowing one hit, issuing no walks and striking out four batters for the win. Heath Olive (JR/Birmingham, Ala.) worked an inning of relief for the win.
Faulkner (11-3) heads to Talladega College Tuesday for a doubleheader for returning home Friday to open SSAC play against William Carey.
