Box Score 2 Faulkner split a pair of games against teams in the national poll Saturday in the Gulf Coast Invitational, pulling the season record to 4-4.
FAULKNER 7, RIO GRANDE 3
The Lady Eagles opened the day by helping Bailey Whitfield (FR/Alabaster, Ala.) to her first career win in a 7-3 defeat of (RV) Rio Grande. The freshman scattered six hits and a walk over five and a third innings of work while allowing two earned runs. Caitlin Perry (SR/Montgomery, Ala.) followed with a perfect inning and two-thirds for the save.Â
Faulkner's offense tallied 10 singles, paced by a 3-for-4 outing from Madison McKee (FR/Wetumpka, Ala.) in which she scored a pair of runs.Â
Kendall Bennett (JR/Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Ashton Fielding (JR/Rockford, Ala.) was 2-for-3 with one run driven in. Tara Ammons (SO/Prattville, Ala.) drove in two runs and scored one. Shelbie Burbage (SO/Prattville, Ala.) had a hit and scored a run.Â

Faulkner dropped game two of the day after (22) Southeastern scored the eventual game winner in the bottom of the fourth for the 3-2 victory.Â
Perry struck out four over six innings while scattering seven hits and allowing one earned run. The offense posted five singled, highlighted by Bennett's 1-for-3 game with two RBIs. Ashton Fielding went 2-for-3 in the game. Abbigail Barron (JR/Panama City, Fla.) and Caity Jo Lee (SO/Wetumpka, Ala.) each had a hit.Â
Faulkner looks to leave the Gulf Coast with a winning record Sunday when it takes on Culver-Stockton.Â
