Hagan Holmstead (JR/Salt Lake City, Utah) doubled ahead of a Jacob Freeland (SR/Cape Coral, Fla.) single in the second inning and Faulkner grabbed a 1-0 lead. That was the end of the good news for No. 2 Faulkner as it dropped a midweek game at Reinhardt 12-2 Wednesday.

The hosting Eagles erupted for five runs in the bottom of the second inning and six ore in the third to put the game firmly out of reach for Faulkner. Freeland singled in John Michael Mathews (JR/Birmingham, Ala.) in the sixth to narrow the gap to 11-2 before Reinhardt got that run back in the home half of the frame.

The visiting Eagles managed 11 hits in the game but stranded 11 runners in the loss.

Faulkner returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. when it hosts No. 8 Middle Georgia State in the first of a three-game set.
