Box Score 2 The Lady Eagles emphatically won their ninth and tenth consecutive games Saturday afternoon at Wynn Field, completing the series sweep over Middle Georgia State and jumping to fourth in the league with 2-0 and 9-1 victories. The guests led for just half an inning the entire series.
Faulkner 2, Middle Georgia State 0
Another shutout performance from Caitlin Perry (SR/Montgomery, Ala.) lifted Faulkner to a 2-0 win. Perry struck out six Knights over seven innings while allowing just three hits.
The breakthrough came for the Lady Eagles in the third when Julianne Wilkes (JR/Deatsville, Ala.) launched her second double of the series to lead off the third inning. Brianna Cagle (SO/Decatur, Ala.)'s sacrifice bunt advanced Wilkes to third. Shelbie Burbage (SO/Prattville, Ala.) bounced a 3-2 pitch to second and forced the defender to make a decision. The throw went home but Wilkes evaded the tag with a slide into the plate to score the eventual winning run.
Kendall Bennett (JR/Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) drew a two out walk in the sixth to spark a rally for the second run. Ashton Fielding (JR/Rockford, Ala.) followed with a double to left to put Bennett on third. Maggie Tipton (JR/Selma, Ala.)'s hard grounder to short was too much for the Knights to be able to make a play on and Bennett came home to seal the scoring at 2-0.
Faulkner 9, Middle Georgia State 1 (6 innings)
The Lady Eagles turned 14 hits into nine runs in game two while allowing Middle Georgia State to convert eight hits into one run.
Middle Georgia's lone run came in the second inning, but Faulkner quickly responded with an equalizer of its own in the home half when Madison McKee (FR/Wetumpka, Ala.) chopped a two out single over the pitcher to score Ashton Fielding.

Abby Tindol (FR/Billingsley, Ala.) hit a single to third to set the stage for Burbage's 2 RBI triple down the left field line and into the corner. Parker continued the rally with a single to center to score Burbage and put the Lady Eagles ahead 6-1.
Tara Ammons (SO/Prattville, Ala.) hit a single to shallow center and advanced Fielding to third before she came home on a bobble from the center fielder in the sixth.
Bennett's single to right imposed the run rule plating Burbage and Parker.
Fielding (2-4) threw five and a third innings of one run pitching with three strikeouts. Perry pitched a clean two-thirds of an inning in relief while picking up her 100th strikeout of the season.
Parker went five for seven from the plate with an RBI and two runs. Fielding helped her cause at the plate as well going three for three with three runs.
