Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Faulkner scratched out a run in the top of the seventh to take the front end of a doubleheader over Brewton-Parker Friday before racing past the Barons in the back end of the twin bill.

Faulkner broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh with a rally started by a one-out
Shelbie Burbage single. The senior centerfielder then stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball.
Markie Hicks then drove the go-ahead run in with a grounder to put Faulkner up 2-1.
Jeri Beasley worked around a leadoff error in the home half of the inning, inducing three pop-ups to end game. Overall, the hurler struck out seven batters over seven innings of work while scattering three hits and issuing no walks.
The Lady Eagles opened the scoring in the top of the first when they cashed in Burbage's leadoff double. The speedy centerfielder moved up on
Taylor Eddy's sacrifice bunt before scoring on
Ashton Fielding's single to left.
Brewton-Parker pulled the game even in the fourth when Morgan Parris singled in Sadie Rusteika for an unearned run.
Faulkner won the game despite committing four errors and stranding seven runners. The Lady Eagles got two of their six hits from Burbage as well as a hit each from Fielding,
Brianna Cagle,
Tara Ammons and
Kendall Bennett.

The Lady Eagles dominated the nightcap, scoring three runs in each of the second and third innings before adding four in the sixth. The run support was more than enough for
Katelynn Inness, who struck out 12 batters while allowing two hits and four walks over six innings of shutout work. For its part, Brewton-Parker committed nine errors in the game, resulting in just one of the 10 Faulkner runs going as earned.
Colby Adams drove in three runs while Bennett knocked in two. Faulkner got two hits apiece from Bennett and Fielding and one from
Caity Jo Lee, Ammons and Mitchell.
Faulkner (13-5, 6-0 SSAC) plays again Saturday when it travels to Middle Georgia State.
