Net governance blitzes Blue Mountain

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Lady Eagles (7-7, 5-3 SSAC) dominated both sides of the net in a straight-sets sweep of Blue Mountain (7-11, 3-5 SSAC) 25-14, 25-15, 25-14 Saturday in Tine Davis Gymnasium. Faulkner blocked 11 attacks and fired 41 kills while hitting .360.

The middle blockers showed out in the first set as Kortney Barnes recorded a solo block and four assisted. Mallory Black picked up two kills and three helpers in the opening frame. As a team, the Lady Eagles blocked eight Lady Topper attacks. 

Faulkner blew open the second set with runs of 9-0 and 6-0 as Alexis McInroy fired four kills of her 10 kills in the match.

A 9-1 start to the third set allowed the Lady Eagles to coast to the match win. Faulkner hit .417 with 15 kills and no attack errors in the final set. 

Tori Renda's team displayed attacking efficiency, totaling 41 kills while Blue Mountain dug 48 attacks. Five attackers recorded multiple kills while hitting over .300.

McInroy led with 10 kills. Alysa Vinson tallied eight and Barnes five. 

Black's incredible weeknd concluded with eight kills and a .538 attack percentage Saturday. Between the two matches, she hit .567 while averaging nearly four kills with 12 assisted blocks.

Alyssa Stagner paced the floor with 21 assists and two aces. 

Hannah Bryan's eight digs proved highest on the team. A quartet of Lady Eagles finished with seven a piece.

Faulkner is on a three game win streak and welcomes Middle Georgia for an SSAC matchup Tuesday evening.
