Box Score Faulkner rallied for a win in game one before dropping the back end of a doubleheader in a split with Mobile Thursday.
FAULKNER 2, MOBILE 1
Faulkner scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and held on in the top of the seventh for a 2-1 victory in game one, its first win over Mobile since April 13, 2018. After Mobile got the first run of the game in the top of the fourth, Faulkner mounted a rally in the home half as
Taylor Eddy tripled down the right field line to open the frame.
Kendall Bennett followed with a sacrifice fly to right to tie the game.
Ashton Fielding reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch to account for the go-ahead run.
Mobile started the comeback effort in the seventh as Courtney Ellzey walked to start a rally attempt. The Rams got the tying run as far as third before Megan Schwieterman induced a fly ball to left to end the game.
Schwieterman (4-2) worked seven innings, scattering eight hits and striking out six for the win.
MOBILE 4, FAULKNER 2
Faulkner surrendered three runs in the top of the fifth on the way to a 4-2 loss in game two. With Faulkner down 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth,
Brianna Cagle drew a walk and later scored on a throwing error to cut it to 3-1. Eddy singled, stole second and scored on Fielding's sacrifice fly to cut it to 3-2. The Lady Eagles stranded the tying run at third to end the inning. Mobile scratched out a run in the top of the sixth to cap the scoring.
Katelynn Inness (3-3) struck out five over four and a third innings of work while scattering four hits and surrendering two earned runs in the loss.
Faulkner (17-9, 7-3 SSAC) plays again Tuesday when it hosts Stillman in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
