LOUDON, Tenn. - Faulkner turned in a strong performance in its first match play event as it placed second after defeating Midway 3-1-1 and Loyola 3-2 Monday before dropping the final match against University of the Cumberlands 3-2 Tuesday at Tennessee National Golf Club.

The Faulkner Eagles won some close matches to defeat the Midway Eagles. After
Emile Raath's 5&4 victory,
Awethu Mkhwanazi earned a 3&2 win and
Juan Cespedes clinched a 1-up victory while
Christoph Rickert awaited to see if his tie would need a tiebreak hole.

In a close match against SSAC foe Loyola, Faulkner found a way to clutch up and take a victory over the Wolf Pack. Raath, again, ran away in his match with a 6&5 win. Bryan de Jonge and Mkhwanazi both picked up 3&2 wins to seal the team victory allowing
Juan Cespedes to retire from his contest early and move ahead to the title game.Â
No. 23 Cumberlands def. Faulkner 3-2
De Jonge picked up a convincing 4&3 win while Rickert pulled a 2-up victory, however the Eagles couldn't get the last win needed against the ranked Patriots with the closest match ending in a 2&1 defeat.
Faulkner finished in the field ahead of No. 21 Point who finished third.
