Box Score LAKE POINT, Ga. – Faulkner's second game in the 2022 Southeast Rumble took a different path but ended with the same result Friday as the Eagles lost to No. 17 St. Thomas 6-5. Faulkner erased a 5-4 deficit in the top of the ninth when Sammy De La Cruz singled home Kevin Saenz to equalize the game. Jack Khawly answered with one away in the bottom of the inning to plate Chris Allende in walk-off fashion.

Faulkner struck first as Peyton Davis homered in the second inning to put the Eagles up 1-0. Evan Gilliam singled in Juan Trinidad in the third to stretch the lead to 2-0. After St. Thomas got a run in the home half of the third, Shawn Ross stroked a sacrifice fly to center to drive in Gilliam and leave the lead at 3-1. 

A Robin Fernandez homer in the fifth briefly narrowed the Eagle advantage to 3-2. Tommy Reyes-Cruz drove in Davis with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to move the lead to 4-2. St. Thomas followed with a run in each of the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to hold a 5-4 lead heading into the ninth.

J.C. Toro worked six innings while allowing four earned runs and striking out three. Nicholas Graham (0-1) fanned two over two and a third innings of work in the loss. 
Faulkner (2-3) wraps the weekend Saturday with a 2 p.m. tilt against Columbia International.
