MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Eagles' slow start continued Saturday with a 6-1 loss to (RV) Webber International as the Warriors took the series sweep. The loss marked the time the Eagles have been swept at Harrison Field in a three-game sweep since April 3-4, 2009 against Southern Poly. Faulkner stranded 12 baserunners in the loss, totaling 27 over the weekend while scoring just five runs.
The Warriors jumped ahead early and struck often amassing a 5-0 lead after their first three offensive innings. In the fourth, Faulkner had a chance to cut it close as
Justice Lucas and
Alex Arauz started the inning with back-to-back singles before
Peyton Davis drew a two-out walk to load the bases, but for the second time in the series, Faulkner stranded three without scratching a run across.
Lucas's seventh inning sacrifice fly scored Sammy de la Cruz to answer a solo homer for the guests in the top half to seal the scoring.
Faulkner looks to rebound Tuesday at Harrison Field against Point.
