Box Score 2 GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Faulkner nearly pulled off a sweep Wednesday before losing game two in extra innings to split with Brenau in its final non-conference series of 2022.

Faulkner took a 5-0 lead in game one and had to hold on to seal the victory.
Nicole Morrison singled in
Tara Ammons to open the scoring in the fourth.
Ivey Hill ripped a two-run single in the fifth to plate
Caity Jo Lee and
Shelbie Burbage, stretching the advantage to 3-0. Morrison added to the advantage with a single to left that drove in
Erika Mitchell. Lee singled in the sixth to plate
Kaileigh Harrison to move the lead to 5-0.
Brenau rallied for two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Julianna Thames recorded the final out of the game to strand the tying run and give
Katelynn Inness the win. Inness struck out four over five and two-thirds innings of work while allowing two earned runs.

The Lady Eagles fell behind 4-0 in the second game of the doubleheader before surging all the way back to a 5-4 lead. Faulkner got the bats going in the third when
Caity Jo Lee singled to drive in
Brianna Cagle.
Gracie Pittman launched a solo homer in the fourth to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Tara Ammons matched the feat in the fifth to narrow it to 4-3. The Lady Eagles appeared poised to win the game after taking the lead on a two-run Ammons single in the seventh that plated Lee and
Courtney Haynie. Faulkner then loaded the bases with just one out but failed to add to the lead. Brenau scored a run in the seventh to keep the game alive and another in the eighth to walk off with the win.
Faulkner (24-16) returns to the state of Georgia Friday and Saturday to close out the regular season with doubleheaders against Brewton-Parker and Middle Georgia State.
