MOBILE, Ala. - Faulkner trailed the entirety of the second half Saturday before it lost to SSAC foe Mobile 93-76. The Lady Rams shot 42.9 percent from the floor in the game in addition to making 90.5 percent of their free throw opportunities.
Mobile also won key ancillary categories as it out-performed the Lady Eagles on the boards by a 45-30 margin. The team's unselfish brand of basketball also helped it produce 23 assists on 33 made baskets.
"Mobile did a great job today. They were ready to compete and beat us in every phase of the game. They deserved the win," Faulkner Head Coach
Reed Sutton said. "We have to improve our competitiveness and accountability in transition defense, half court defense, and rebounding. We will go back to work and keep improving each day."
For its part, Faulkner last led 30-29 with 5:35 remaining in the second quarter. The advantage came when
Dee Guinn dished off to
Morgan Holland, who drained a three to catapult the Lady Eagles in front with 6:09 until halftime. The Rams followed with a 7-0 run to recapture the lead for the final time on the afternoon.
Faulkner shot 39.7 percent from the floor and 36.8 percent from three in addition to making 19 of 29 free throws.
Holland topped Faulkner with 20 points and seven rebounds.
Nequoia Adams finished with 15 points while Guinn had 11.
Faulkner (3-5, 0-2 SSAC) plays two 2022-23 national tournament teams on the road next week when it travels to Philander Smith Tuesday and Rust College Wednesday.
