NEW ORLEANS - Two big innings from the No. 17 Wolf Pack started the SSAC Series of the Week with a loss for Faulkner at Tulane's Turchin Stadium Friday night 11-6.
Three errors turned into six unearned runs for Faulkner defensively, starting with four coming in the bottom of the fourth to put Loyola ahead for good after a second inning two run homer from
Francisco Soriano scored
Jorge Lucero to flip a 1-0 deficit into a lead.
In the sixth, Soriano was hit by a pitch before
Trevor Torppa's double to left put two in scoring position. After a wild pitch and an error by the left fielder on
Jack Brinkley's batted ball, Faulkner cut the deficit to 5-4. Loyola got a run right back in the sixth to take a two-run advantage into the seventh where things unraveled for the Eagles as the hosts scored four on four hits to blow the game open.
Back-to-back one out walks in the ninth set the stage for
Drew Mackie's two-RBI double but Faulkner could not get any closer than the five run deficit.
Mackie, Lucero and Soriano each recorded multiple hits.
The Eagles play two Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
