HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Lady Eagles (1-1-1) took care of business Saturday shutting out Freed-Hardeman 3-0 on the road to claim their first victory of the season behind a brace from
Cassie Jackson and a stellar defensive effort leading to the first clean sheet of the season in
Faith Rush's start of the season in goal.
Jackson scored her first collegiate goal in the 10th minute, proving to be the match winner, cashing in a flurry of five shots in just over a minute from the Lady Eagles.
Jessica Jaimes found
Elodie Metho in the 31st minute as the Cameroonian scored her first goal of the season, beating Lions keeper Brooke Latham who was under constant fire all afternoon.
Faulkner clung to the 2-0 lead at halftime in a pretty open 45 that featured 23 total shots before the interval, however Faulkner was the aggressor offensively with 15 of those efforts.
Jackson made it two in the 58th to ice the match away. Her brace was the first from a true freshman since Luci Schroder against Blue Mountain in October of 2021.
Faith Rush stopped three shots in her first career clean sheet including one just over a minute into the match.
The Lady Eagles have now defeated their sister school eight straight times and have not lost since the program's inaugural season in 2004. Faulkner has held a clean sheet six of the last seven meetings.
Faulkner will travel to Huntsville, Ala. to take on Oakwood Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. It will mark the first contest between the two sides.
