TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Faulkner picked up its ninth straight win against Stillman Wednesday night in Birthright Alumni Hall with a 92- result over the former conference rival in the last game before Christmas on the back of a pair of career highs with 31 points from
Maliek Sadler and 12 from
Joe Webster and a season high 25 from
KJ Rogers.
The Eagles shot the second best field goal percentage in modern era program history with a 60 percent performance from the floor while shooting 57.9 percent from behind the arc to keep the pressure on the home team to play catch-up practically the whole night. Faulkner also won the points in the paint battle with a 38-36 advantage.Â
Faulkner only trailed for 2:39 and did not surrender the lead after taking it 16:31 in the first when
Jonathan Garcia knocked down a three to take an 8-6 advantage. Faulkner took a 41-32 lead into halftime and blew it up to an 18 point difference with a 17-8 run to open the second half, knocking down all three three-point attempts and missing just one shot in the first 5:21 of the period.Â
Sadler went Super Saiyan shooting the rock, going 10-14 from the floor, 7-10 from deep and 4-4 from the stripe to set a new career high of 31 points including six of the last seven points.Â
Rogers set a new Faulkner high with 25 points and was just three off his career best set at Snead State last season.Â
Webster tripled his career high with a solid 12 point output on five of eight shooting to go along with a shared team high six rebounds with
Gabriel Rivera.Â
Jonathan Garcia added 15 points, shooting 60 percent from deep on three makes.Â
It was the first time the Eagles have broken the 90 point barrier away from Tine Davis Gymnasium since a 100-88 win over No. 10 LSU Shreveport in the 2022 Battle at the Beach and in a true road game since Feb. 10, 2022 in a 91-77 win over Middle Georgia.Â
The Eagles snapped the tough two game skid and improved to 10-3 on the season heading into Christmas break.
Faulkner returns to action on Dec. 30 when it welcomes Southeastern back to Tine Davis Gymnasium for the first time since the Fire upset the Eagles in the Round of 32 of the 2023 NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship.
