JACKSON, Miss. – Faulkner swept a midweek non-conference doubleheader Wednesday, outpacing Tougaloo College to move to 3-1 on the week.
FAULKNER 10, TOUGALOO 5
The Eagles fell behind early in the opener of the twin bill as the Bulldogs plated two runs in the second for the 2-0 lead.
Evan Gilliam helped Faulkner answer back in the third when he singled through the left side to drive in
Jack Brinkley and slice it to 2-1.
Orlando Lorduy later doubled to left field to plate
Juan Trinidad and tie the game. A
Johnny Lopez single up the middle allowed Gilliam and Lorduy to score for the 4-2 Faulkner advantage.
The lead did not last long as Tougaloo pushed two across in the bottom of the third to tie the game 4-4. Trinidad broke the deadlock in the fourth with a two-run single. A Lorduy sacrifice fly drove home Trinidad fort the 7-4 margin.
The score remained 7-4 until the seventh when Lorduy singled in
Darius Anderson. Lopez smacked a two-run homer to push the Faulkner advantage to 10-4.
Hunter Dupuy (2-0) worked three innings of scoreless relief notch the win, striking out six while scattering two hits and walking one.

Tougaloo plated one in the second inning of game two for an early lead before
Francisco Soriano flipped the game for the visitors. He hit a solo homer to left in the third to tie the game and stroked another in the fifth to put Faulkner up 2-1. Lopez added to the lead in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to plated
Tuane Cope. Eduarny Martinez doubled home Trinidad for the 4-1 lead.
Jose Vargas singled in Martinez to cap the scoring.
Mose Hayes (1-0) worked a complete game, striking out three while scattering five hits and a walk.
