Pulaski, Tenn. - The Lady Eagles took back-to-back sweeps on the road with the doubleheader win over UT Southern Sunday afternoon. Faulkner picked up their seventh and eighth win in SSAC play with the 8-3 and 3-2 results.
Faulkner 8, UT Southern 3
Faulkner took game one of Sunday's doubleheader against the Firehawks 8-3. The Lady Eagles picked up the victory behind great-bats and stand-up fielding. Faulkner drew in eight runs off 13 hits through seven innings.
Through two innings, the game remained scoreless. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded,
Anna Purvis singled to right for the RBI.
Abby Terrell scored the first point for the Lady Eagles. With bases loaded for back-to-back bats,
Madelyn Becker sent
Eavie Polk home on the RBI single.
Chloe Davidson put Faulkner up three with a score off the throwing error.
Erika Mitchell took the box and put two more on the board as she singled up the middle, allowing Purvis and Becker to score. The Firehawks retire the top half of the inning down 5-0.
The Firehawks answered with a run in the bottom of the third after Ella Singletary drove in Hayley Parrott on the RBI single. Faulkner would end the inning, and the score would stand 5-1.
The Lady Eagles put up three more runs in the top of the fourth. Becker brought home three Lady Eagles for the three-run RBI double. Faulkner went up 8-1, and the score stood for two and a half innings. The Firehawks hit the bottom of the seventh for a possible comeback win. They put two more on the board, but the Lady Eagles would steal the road win and game one of the doubleheader. The final score was 8-3.
Julianna Thames picked up her fourth win of the season, allowing just two earned runs through seven innings.

Faulkner picked up the doubleheader series sweep in Game Two against the Firehawks 3-2.
The Lady Eagles started the game with the first run after a sacrifice RBI fly from
Madelyn Becker.
Chloe Davidson crossed home plate for the run. UT Southern would remain scoreless going into the top of the second.
Faulkner put on the remaining two runs of the game for them in the top of the second inning from a two-run RBI single by
Chloe Davidson. The hit brought
Ashtyn Pannell and
Abby Terrell home to put the Lady Eagles up three.
The game remained 3-0 until the bottom of the fourth, where the Firehawks scored their first run with an RBI single from Kaley Ezell, which allowed Hannah Lindsey to score.
For two and a half innings, the score stood 3-1, and UT Southern had the chance for another comeback win in the bottom of the seventh. The Firehawks brought the game within one off an RBI single by Hannah Lindsey that drove Allie Toone home to bring the score to 3-2. With two outs left, Ivey Hill entered the ball game and clutched up the save with the third-out grounder to the pitcher.
Katelynn Inness earned her fifth win of the season, and Ivey Hill earned her first save of the year. Both pitchers issued zero walks in the second-game outing.
The Lady Eagles (15-8, SSAC 8-2) return to action on Thursday when they take on Mobile back at Wynn Field. The first pitch is set for 2 pm.
