Lady Eagles earn season series sweep over Ambassadors

Montgomery, Ala. - Faulkner hosted Oakwood on Friday for a pair of non-conference games. The Lady Eagles took two big wins and the sweep against the Ambassadors. The Lady Eagles took game one 3-2 through seven innings. In game two, Faulkner clinched the sweep with a walk-off RBI double to end the game after five innings and a final score of 8-0. The Lady Eagles pick up their 21st and 22nd wins of the season. 

Faulkner 3, Oakwood 2

Game one saw zero runs in the first inning, but in the bottom of the second, Faulkner put three on the board for the Lady Eagles. Anna Catherine Segrest singled for an RBI to bring Eavie Polk across the plate. Chloe Davidson scored on the same play after a throwing error by the third-base player. Segrest scored the third run in the game after another throwing error on the next at-bat. 

For three more innings, the game remained 3-0. In the top of the sixth inning, the Ambassadors finally scored after a two-run RBI homer to center fielder Sydney Arnett. The home run brought the score to 3-2. The Lady Eagles kept the Ambassadors from pouring on more runs and sent the game to the bottom of the frame. Oakwood picked up the quick three-outs to send it to the top of the seventh. 

In the top of the seventh, the Lady Eagles took game one with three necessary outs to finish the ball game and win 3-2. 

The Lady Eagles had four hits. Chloe Davidson had two of her own. Anna Catherine Segrest and Anna Purvis each had one. 

Ivey Hill started inside the circle for the Lady Eagles in game one. She picked up her seventh win of the season. Hill threw for seven strikeouts and zero earned runs. Hailey O'Brien relieved Hill after six innings of work. O'Brien picked up her first save of the season. She threw for three strikeouts and allowed zero earned runs as well.

In game two, Faulkner put up the first run after Ivey Hill singled up the middle for an RBI and sent Anna Purvis home. 

The Lady Eagles tacked on another point in the bottom of the second to put Faulkner up 2-0. Chloe Davidson doubled for the RBI and pushed Abby Terrell across the plate. 

In the bottom of the third, Faulkner had another single run inning after Anna Purvis scored on an RBI from Erika Mitchell

In the fourth inning, the Lady Eagles went on a scoring spree as they put on four more runs to bring the lead to seven. Ashtyn Pannell scored after a Chloe Davidson RBI triple. Anna Purvis then brought Davidson home with an RBI single. Ivey Hill tripled to left for an RBI to send Purvis home. Hill then scored the seventh point after a throwing error by the right fielder. 

In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Eagles were up 7-0 and Ashtyn Pannell in the box. She doubled to center field for another RBI and the walk-off run to send AnnaMarie Stooksbury home for the 8-0 run-rule win and the sweep. 

In game two, the Lady Eagles had eight hits. Chloe Davidson and Ivey Hill had two each. Anna Purvis, Abby Terrell, Sarah Williams and Ashtyn Pannell all had one hit. Faulkner also had a total of six RBIs. 

Chloe Davidson pitched for the Lady Eagles in game two. She pitched a complete game and a nine strikeout-shut out. Davidson allowed zero earned runs. She picked up her third win of the season. 

Faulkner (22-17, SSAC 13-9) returns to action on Saturday when they take on Point for a pair of SSAC games and celebrate their seniors with Senior Day.
