Decatur, Ala. - The Lady Eagles started their journey in the SSAC Softball Championship in Decatur, Ala. on Thursday against Stillman. Faulkner picked up the day one win over the Tigers in a final score of 3-2.

In the opening game of the SSAC Softball Championship, the Stillman Tigers started with a quick 1-0 lead from an RBI single by Madison Bubel that sent Lauren Haskins home for the first run.
In the bottom of the second inning, Faulkner answered back with a run of their own. Ivey Hill scored Faulkner's first run off an error to tie the ball game.
Faulkner took the lead in the bottom of the next inning after Ivey Hill doubled to right center for the RBI and an Anna Purvis run scored. The Lady Eagles found themselves up 2-1.
The Lady Eagles held on to the 2-1 lead, with no runs scored in the fourth and fifth innings.
In the top of the sixth with Stillman up to bat they tied the ball game at 2-2 after Karlie Davis flew out to the infield for the sacrifice RBI. Carolyn Carter scored the tying run from third. Faulkner quickly ended the top half of the frame with two outs to keep any further runs from scoring.
In the bottom of the sixth, Faulkner came to the plate looking to put the go-ahead run on the board. Eavie Polk singled to right center for an RBI and the lead run. Her hit sent Kaileigh Harrison across the plate for a 3-2 lead. Stillman avoided any further runs with two outs on the next two out of three batters.
In the top of the seventh, Faulkner ended the game with three straight outs and won the opening round game 3-2 over the Tigers.
The Lady Eagles had seven hits in the game. Anna Purvis and Ivey Hill had two hits each. Anna Catherine Segrest, Sarah Williams and Eavie Polk each had one hit.
Katelynn Inness started for the Lady Eagles inside the circle. Inness picked up her ninth win of the season with the opening-round win. She threw a complete game with six strikeouts and only two earned runs.
Faulkner (26-18, SSAC 16-10) returns to action on Friday at 10 a.m. against William Carey at the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex.
