MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner claimed a number of awards, highlighted by
Jonathan Garcia's first team accolade and
KJ Rogers placing second team, as announced Wednesday night at the SSAC Awards Banquet.
Jonathan Garcia was recognized as first-team all-SSAC, becoming the 12th different Eagle to earn the accolade under Head Coach
Scott Sanderson. The award marks the 17th time an Eagle has made first team since the 2014-2015 season. Garcia, a native of Clint, Texas, most recently was named the 2022-23 6th Man of the Year in the end of the year accolades. He is averaging 16.8 points a game entering the postseason with 74 made threes at a 36.9 percent clip and shooting 86.9 percent from the stripe with a 107 shot sample size. He is shooting 40.1 percent from the floor as well. He has more 20 point games (9) than single-digit scoring games (4) this season. He adds this title to his membership in the 1000 point club and is currently 16th all-time in career points (1175) scored for the program and fourth in career made threes (197) with a chance to move up in both categories.Â
KJ Rogers placed second team, becoming the ninth Eagle under Sanderson to win the honor and the 11th total time in the span. Rogers, a native of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, averages 13.6 points per game and is shooting 50 percent from the floor, with an insane 53.2 percent mark from inside the arc and averages 2.67 assists per game. Rogers's biggest offensive game of the season came on the road at Stillman with 25 points on 12 made baskets.
