CLEVELAND, Ga. – Faulkner hung runs in the first inning and coasted to a 6-2 win Saturday to complete the non-conference series sweep of Truett McConnell.
Juan Trinidad started the offense with a one-out single in the top of the first and moved to third on an Edrien Martinez double to right.
Orlando Lorduy followed with a double of his own to plate two runs and give the Eagles the lead. After a Luis Lizarraga single to center,
Kenny Di Clemente ripped a double to center to drive in both runners before later scoring on a miscue for the 5-0 lead.
After TMU got one back in bottom of the fifth, Faulkner scored again in the top of the seventh when Trinidad hit a sacrifice fly to center that drove in Martinez.
Mose Hayes (1-0) struck out two and allowed two hits while issuing no walks over four scoreless innings for the win.
Horacio Cruz worked three innings of one-run ball.
Jordan Destefano closed the game out with an inning and two-thirds of scoreless work.
Faulkner (4-0) is set to play again Tuesday when it hosts University of Alabama-Huntsville for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
