Lady Eagles’ arms and bats too much for Ambassadors in series sweep

Huntsville, Ala. - The Lady Eagles took a trip to the Rocket City on Friday afternoon to take on the Ambassadors of Oakwood for the late-season rematch. Earlier in the season, Faulkner hosted Oakwood for their opening doubleheader of the 2025 season. The Lady Eagles picked up the sweep with the scores of 3-0 and 8-2. In today's doubleheaders, the Lady Eagles completed two shutouts behind the pitching of Lana Atkins and Chloe Davidson, who made her season debut in game two. The Lady Eagles also had the hot bat as they combined for 27 hits.

The Lady Eagles started the scoring in the top of the second after Kensley Wesley singled to send Gracie Pittman home, who got on board with a single of her own. With the Pittman score, Wesley earned the RBI. The game would remain 1-0 until the top fourth when the Lady Eagles would put up another point with a solo shot from Madelyn Becker to put Faulkner up 2-0.

In the top of the fifth inning, the bats got hot for the Lady Eagles. Davidson tripled up the middle to bring Campbell Hecklinski home for the RBI. Segrest then reached on with a fielder's choice after she laid down the bunt to bring Davidson home. Becker followed it up with an RBI triple to send Segrest across the plate.

The Lady Eagles then scored one more run in the top of the seventh after Pittman singled to left field to bring home Segrest for the RBI.

Throughout the game, Faulkner not only put up nine hits to help score, but Lana Atkins's pitching played a huge part in the Lady Eagle defense today. She finished the day with 14 strikeouts and zero earned runs, setting a season high.
