ATHENS, Tenn. - Faulkner fell in its first road trip of the season, suffering a 2-1 loss to the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs Thursday afternoon, unable to capitalize on playing with a man advantage for slightly over the entire second half and a two man advantage for the final minute.
The Bulldogs got on the board first when Nicko Bellot fired a near post shot into the Faulkner net in the 11th minute to set the tone. The Bulldog lead was short lived as Asaphe Silveira muscled his defender down and curled a shot into the TWU net in the 20th.
TWU saw a man sent off in the 42nd minute, but Faulkner found no go ahead tally. The Bulldogs struck the winner in the 75th minute with Bellot tallying again.
Faulkner knocked with several big chances late in the game but could not break through the door to find an equalizer.
Through the afternoon, Faulkner allowed just two shots on goal and outshot the Bulldogs 16-6 but found just three on frame themselves.
