MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Eagles led 3-1 in the 75th minute but needed a 90th minute indirect free kick goal from
Konsti Witte to draw SCAD-Savannah 4-4 in a wild finish Saturday night at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.
The Bees (1-3-2) found two goals from Nils Vallotto in the 77th and 80th minutes to level the match and stun the Eagles. In the 83rd, Faulkner committed a foul inside the box and set up a second penalty attempt for Mario Goic who scored his second of the match from the spot to take the lead. The Bees comeback follows a dramatic 3-3 draw at Life that saw SCAD score the equalizer in the 85th.
Faulkner's big chance came in the 90th minute when SCAD's keeper was called for a delay of restart which gave Faulkner an indirect free kick inside the box about two yards inside the penalty spot.
Pedro Trinidade rolled it short to Witte who scored his sixth goal in five matches with a low powered shot into the tightly packed SCAD goal. The German is currently averaging a goal every 27 minutes of play.
The Eagles opened the lead in the 32nd minute with a brilliant tight-angle free kick from Pepé Riofrio curling it near post in front of the keeper. Just six minutes later,
Asaph Silveira found himself in the box off a pass from
Julio Cesar and doubled the lead with Silveira's third of the season.
SCAD got one back with just seconds to go in the first half from the penalty spot by Goic.
Faulkner reopened the two goal advantage with a rocket from Cesar from the left side for his 15th career Faulkner goal.
Faulkner's nonconference mark sits at 4-2-1.
The Eagles enter SSAC play Thursday with No. 1 and reigning national champions Dalton State coming to town. The Roadrunners (5-0-1) have not lost since 2023 and the Eagles have never defeated Dalton State. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
