Individual records fall in season opener

WALESKA, Ga. - The Eagles showed massive improvement in their first event of the season with several individual records falling, finishing fifth out of nine teams and third of seven schools at the Eagle's Open that was dominated by the hosts Reinhardt on their home course who placed their B and C teams in the top four in addition to their A team winning by 29 shots at Lake Arrowhead Yacht and Country Club.

After opening last season at the same event as well, the Eagles improved their team score by 24 shots on the same course in a year's time.

The Eagles finished 31-over-par, two shots ahead of sister school Freed-Hardeman with the difference coming in Monday's second round with identical scores to the Lions in the first and third.

Leo Testas paced the Eagles once again with a career-best seven-under-par tournament to tie for third, shooting 69-68-69 for his fifth top 10 and fourth top three in the last six events dating back to last season. The French golfer bested his previous three-round-to-par score by four strokes.

Ernest Juglar finished the event strong with an even-par third round to climb six spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 22nd to best his score at last season's tournament by 37.

Mac Moorer also set a new career-best three-round-to-par score with an 11-over finish, beating his previous best by a shot highlighted by a one-over-par third round, seven shots better than last year in the same event.

Noah Costello placed 35th as an individual with a 17-over-par in his college debut.

Judson Graham also joined that individual record cohort with an 18-over-par performance fueled by a four-over-par first round. It improved his three-round record by 12 shots and his score last year at the same course by 25 shots.

Lucas Nicola finished 24-over-par with Cooper Osborne finishing 49-over.

The Eagles will head to Athens, Ala. to compete in the UT Southern Firehawk Fall Invite Sept. 14-15 at the Canebrake Club.
