MONTGOMERY, Ala.-During the second game for the Faulkner Futures football team, the team ended up making three interceptions against Huntingdon College in the fourth quarter that sealed the game for the Eagles. With those three interceptions, the game between the Montgomery JV programs ended with Faulkner winning 13-0 at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.
To start off with, both offenses struggled to move the ball consistently throughout the entire game. The only touchdown before the fourth quarter was in the first quarter, with Ryan Sipes passing to Jordan Bell from 24 yards out for the first touchdown of the game and Aidan Brown making the kick, which left the score 7-0. After that though, neither team could make it to the endzone. Not until the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Jayden Clermont intercepted a pass that he returned 48 yards for a touchdown, which left the score at 13-0. The Hawks attempted to get back in it, moving to the Faulkner 18 on a nine-play drive. However, two more interceptions from Faulkner left Huntingdon unable to score. Jaimen Caba had the second interception for the night that ended Huntingdon's nine-play drive, and Denzel McNeil had the third interception that ended their next drive and ultimately sealed the fate of the Huntingdon Hawks.
Overall, Faulkner Futures did an excellent job at coming back in the fourth quarter of the game in order to lengthen the gap between their and Huntingdon's score and kept the Hawks from scoring as well. Despite the initial struggle, the Faulkner Futures were able to truly end the game on a good note to claim the crosstown battle.
The Faulkner Futures team will be playing at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium October 5 at 6:00 pm against Tennessee Valley Christian Community College. With how this game went tonight, Faulkner Futures can only climb higher and continue to improve with each game they play next.
